In this blog, we share and highlight our amazing Legal Director, Nikolas Peterson. He is a 4th-generation Washingtonian and feels great responsibility to help ensure a safe and effective cleanup of Hanford for those who call the Pacific Northwest home.
Though Nikolas Peterson was born and raised just an hour southeast of the Hanford Nuclear Site in Walla Walla, he didn’t hear a lot about its legacy until his junior year at Walla Walla University. His journey since then has been quite incredible. As a student at SeattleU he gained the tools necessary to become an effective advocate for Hanford issues. He became the Staff Attorney at Hanford Challenge after obtaining his law degree, where he continued advocating for transparency, worker health and safety, and environmental justice. He thinks that Hanford presents the next generation with complex problems that require nuanced solutions, and hopes that with the input of the next generation, lasting solutions will be reached.
It’s a proud moment for us at Hanford Challenge as Nikolas and his incredible work at Hanford is featured in Seattle University School of Law‘s magazine, the first in his class to be profiled.
We are really lucky to have Nikolas on our team!
